NOTES
- This week has not disappointed on the trade front, with ten trades agreed upon since last Sunday. It’s always interesting to see how teams view their chances by how they react at the deadline. The most interesting is to see Anal selling a major part and a few solid contributors for picks and relief pitchers. The bounty received for MadBum was too good to pass up surely, but Andrew is sitting in one of the final playoff spots, so this doesn’t make that effort easier. Perhaps he’s looking to punt QS and Ks with the hopes that rates and S+H will take him to the promise land. Either way, one of the more unexpected reactions.
- Outside of Andrew, Dave, Pierce, Dan and of course Gibby are all selling and have dealt off some major pieces. Lars appears to be MIA at the moment while Moose’s trades make it appear he’s not going down without a fight and will see where the playoffs take him.
- This week was a key head-to-head match for the league’s two heavy hitters, with my Revenge going against Kyle’s Pirates. A buttload of double starts and a resurgent offensive output ended in a big 8-2 win, bringing that 10 game lead down to 4 games. If it went the other way, it might’ve wrapped up Kyle’s first regular season championship, but alas, it looks like it may be a fight to the finish.
- In that realm, after several weeks below the Pirates, my Revenge leaped up to second place in the RR for the season. With that in mind, all bets are off as teams improve and worsen their 2015 rosters. It’s like having a new team.
-
- As a general observation, once again the standings and the RR are becoming consistent in terms of overall rank, with Dave’s team the only real injustice at 8th in RR and 11th in Actual, but it’s a relatively minor injustice and may correct further with his recent fire sale.
- Lame duck MET upset the 5th place Munchkins to stay alive in the race. With no incentive to play for next year and an appreciation that selling out for this season completely screws his eventual replacement (which is much appreciated), it looks like Russ will at least stay with what he’s got and try to make some playoff magic.
- Big matchup this week is another tough one for Kyle as he faces the Punchers with his retooled roster, while Dagan (6th) vs. Jason (4th) may be a most entertaining BATTLE OF CHAMPIONS.
- People who still owe dues: Jason, Dave, Shomphe, Shannon ($115), Brian, Dan, Lars ($130), and Pierce.
- Keep the trades coming. One thing I ask everyone to keep in mind is that the price ranges very greatly and fluctuate almost daily as precedent is set. And underwhelming proposal is not an attack on your fantasy acumen, it's simply an acknowledgement that prices are all over the place and assesments of players vary widely. Call them a douche and send a counter. No way to reach a deal unless there's some back and forth.
