1. Shall the team that drafts Shohei Ohtani be awarded the pitcher and the hitter version of the players?
Yahoo will treat Ohtani as two separate players. If he is treated as one player, the drafting team will have to roster both players at all times or neither. The team will not receive an extra roster, DL, or NA spot.
2. Shall the league increase the transaction limit from 60 to 75?
This change reflects the increased use of transactions last year due to the shorter DL designations.
3. Shall the league add a second NA spot? The league currently has one such spot.
4. Would you be in favor of adding a 7th keeper that is a minor leaguer for the 2019 season?
We would have a separate vote later on how to determine what players qualify as a minor leaguer. Would not start until 2019.

1. Why do you want to
join High & Tight?
Much of what I enjoy about participating in a fantasy league
is the social aspect. It’s an easy way to connect with others who share the
same degree of interest in the game of baseball. High and Tight would be a new
avenue for me to connect with other lovers of the game and the fantasy game.
Although I do know and play with some of the existing owners, there are some I
do not know and would certainly look forward to knowing and playing with. A
14team league like H&T requires knowledge of a deeper player pool and the
dynamic added by using Saves+Holds offers another welcomed challenge.
2. Please share any
information as it relates to your qualifications. This may include leagues you
are in or have been in, championships, noteworthy acquisitions/strategies,
offseason activities, etc. – related to baseball only.
I began playing fantasy baseball on Yahoo in 2006. What
started as passive participation in a single roto league turned into a
year-round commitment to multiple leagues of all shapes and sizes, including
commissioning and co-commissioning leagues for ten of those twelve years. In my
Yahoo trophy case are five trophies, four of which are for baseball. My most
recent championship came in 2016 in a twelve team league where I finished first
in the regular season and held off the competition throughout the playoffs to
bring home the gold.I spend my offseasons trying to suck up as much pertinent
information as possible. In addition to spending time exploring the rabbit
holes of Twitter, seeking out news on acquisitions and player updates, I
subscribe to a number of fantasy podcasts -- drilling any and all baseball
information into my subconscious. When the fantasy season creeps closer, I
spend some time inspecting the rankings of a number of outlets and performing
mock-drafts.
3. Describe your
management style (active vs. passive, aggressive trader, analytical, specific
methodologies, etc.)
Even after twelve years of playing the fantasy game, I’m
truly still trying to develop mymanagement strategy and evolve each year. I
would describe myself as somewhat of a conservative manager. You most likely
won’t ever find me leading the league in transactions. This stems from an
attempt to refrain from being too reactionary. I also seldom make make trades
in-season. I’m the type of manager who will typically only offer a trade if I
think it makes sense for both teams. Although, in leagues with draft pick
trading, I do find it easier to make trades in the offseason if necessary.
Again, my strategy is ever-evolving and situational, based on the competition
and the shape of constantly changing MLB
trends

1. Why do you want to join High & Tight?
As you know Jason
Ouellette recommended this league to me and he speaks very highly of the
competitiveness and activity level of this league. I am a self-proclaimed fantasy baseball nerd
and love playing in different leagues with different formats. Jason shared a link to the blog which
illustrated my earlier points of it being a competitive and active league. I like
that this league does not allow managers to be inactive as that drags down the
quality of a league. Also, looking at
the team I could possibly inherit, the pitching is absolutely stacked. Plus, I’ve been hearing Jason talk so much
shit about how much better his league is than mine and how good he is, I
thought I would see for myself if he’s full of shit.
2. Please share any information as it relates to
your qualifications. This may include leagues you are in or have been in,
championships, noteworthy acquisitions/strategies, offseason activities, etc. –
related to baseball only.
I’ve been playing in a
yahoo standard keeper league for the last ten years. Two years ago we added a rule that we could
trade draft picks and my team was just outside of the playoffs, so I carefully
traded away some pieces for additional draft picks. Our league slots the #7 finishing team as the
first draft pick, which is where I finished.
I had the #1 pick and several picks in the early rounds. This year, I finished the regular season in
first and lost in the championship.
3. Describe your management style (active vs. passive,
aggressive trader, analytical, specific methodologies, etc.)
I am very active. Watching the waiver, reading blogs, watching
baseball, and on my phone constantly. I
like to be an aggressive trader and if something isn’t working I’m not afraid
to make a bold trade. My team name a
couple of times has been “Trader Jed”, a takeoff obviously on Trader Danny
Ainge! I subscribe to a couple of
different theories mostly though I go for the sexy power hitters.
