Montezumas receives:
RP Rafael Soriano NYY
24th rounder
Prestige receives:
RP Drew Storen WSH
18th rounder
Though I still expect Storen to be closing games at some point this season (Davey Johnson left the door slightly open), there is a chance Clippard never falters and. at least for 2012, Storen is a setup guy. Regardless, I didn’t want to wait and had two other guys on the DL, so I wanted a bullpen upgrade. Soriano is a huge upgrade as he clearly has shown he is the preferable option over Robertson and has the experience that managers love. He also Ks enough guys and gets enough chances to contribute to four categories. He might just be a top five closer the rest of the way and may be needed for the Revenge since most contenders seem to have pretty good bullpens.
Lars did good for himself here as a six round upgrade is more than most closers go for (Mo was traded for a four round upgrade at the trade deadline last year) and Storen could potentially provide further upgrades if he reclaims the role. If he does, a four-round upgrade would certainly be in order given the number of close games Nationals have, and 10 rounds of upgrades for one closer would be a huge boon for a rebuilding team.
