Dagan gave up a round more than he probably needed to given the lack of track record and Wedge’s statement that League could eventually get the role back. But it makes little difference that late in the draft. While wins aren’t always easy to come by in Seattle, Wilhemsen has been basically perfect since becoming closer and there’s no real reason to go back to League, who, after Wedge’s comments, went out and blew a couple save chances. Still, there’s enough insecurity with the role that I can imagine a situation where Dagan is reacquiring League for another pick at some point. But another closer was needed and he got one without having to give up an early pick, so mission accomplished.
