Week 15 Real Rankings

The long week took its toll on a few struggling teams, including my own, and helped others move up. There’s six weeks left, so that’s 60 games to make up the distance between you and first place.
  • The open trading period begins Sunday at midnight. All picks are fair game to trade, but you’re limited to trading two picks in round 7-10. There is no limit on the number of picks you can acquire in these rounds. The trade deadline is August 16th.
  •  So, with that said, who is in and who is out? Has all the meat been picked off the Napalm bones? There seems to be plenty of buyers and not a lot of sellers at the moment, so teams stand to put themselves in great position moving forward if they’re willing to call it a year.
  • That said, the distance between last and the playoffs is only 7.5 games, so its anyones game. And we all know you just have to make it to the dance, then its anyone’s game.
  •  Consistent with years past, the Real Rankings and Actual Standings are coming more into sync as the season goes on. This could not be more noticeable than the emergence of Cowhide Joyride, who rode his way out of the cellar into 12 and is inching forward to a playoff spot – just as the RR say he should.
  • The Angries just may be running away with it, as Kyle continues to produce in a well balanced manner while the three major threats behind him are struggling to find consistency.
  • Top three over the past four weeks: Cowhide Joyride (5.85), Angry Pirates (6.05), and Donkey (6.15). Meanwhile Napalm (9.25), Keepin (9.1), and Prestige 9.05) are taking up the rear. Bring it out to five weeks and the once resurgent Prestigers are the low man at the totem pole, while Cowhide remains atop
  • Only two people have paid so far. Please send checks to 90 Old Route 9, North Berwick, ME 03906. I have a PayPal account, just need to finish setting up. Will let you know when that is ready.

Week 12 and 13 Real Rankings

NOTES:
- After spending most of the season in first in the Real Rankings, the Revenge have fallen all the way to third. The resurgent One Nut and resilient Pirates both overtook me over the course of the past two weeks. There's a pretty big drop to fourth, so the top three are clearly a tier, with the next tier falling in the equally close 4th-6th grouping (6.52-6.60).

- Big props need to go to Andrew for posting the best relative performance in hitting in Real Ranking history with a 1.6 in Week 13. His 45 runs, 10 hr, 39 rbi, 12 steals, and .353 obp were good for 1st, 3rd, 1st, 1st, and 2nd, respectively.

- Keep in Real is sticking to the same time-tested strategy of sticking with the team he drafted, but not working so well for Piercy Poo at the moment.

- Dave's luck hasn't changed much since we last checked in. A first place real ranking in Week 13 and third in Week 12 and all he has to show for it is a 12-8 record over that period. Still time left though.

- Over the last four weeks, the top three in Real Rankings are Angry Pirates (5.1), One Nut (5.5), and Anal (6.2), with Cowhide coming in just behind at 6.3. Three worst are Ring (8.2), Prestige (8.3), and Keepin (8.6).

- The trade market has yet to evolve. Lots of buyers, not much in terms of sellers. Couple more weeks ought to give people more of an idea of where they stand.
