CHRIS SCOTT

1.  Why do you want to join High & Tight?

I’m used to managing a few fantasy baseball teams per season and within the last couple years, two of them have gone belly up because of inactive and uncommitted managers.  That or the commish just flat out didn’t care to do it anymore and it was over just like that.  I’m looking to add a 2nd competitive league back into the arsenal, which this one offers, and I also manage one other head-to-head keeper league team with similar scoring categories, so there is synergy there.

2.  Please share any information as it relates to your qualifications. This may includes leagues you are in or have been in, championships, noteworthy acquisitions/strategies, offseason activities, etc. – related to baseball only.

I have been playing a version of Fantasy baseball since the late 90’s, before Yahoo started the Internet era of fantasy sports, and used to submit a monthly roster to a local magazine that counted HRs only.  I’m involved year-round in all fantasy sports, but I generally just love the stats side of sports and stay tuned in regardless of the time of year.  I pride myself on being involved in all of these leagues through thick and thin and during the offseason and just being a sports junkie in general.  I have won leagues in the past, but we all know injuries can decimate a roster and you just can’t hang with the top dogs some years, so I have some basement finishes as well.  My Yahoo fantasy baseball profile goes back to 2001 and states I have a 57% win percentage (and it probably says more about me that I even know where to find that figure).

3.  Describe your management style (active vs. passive, aggressive trader, analytical, specific methodologies, etc.)

I’m not aggressive in a sense that I don’t like to give up on a season early and will try to manage within the here and now, more than mortgaging for the future.  I’m very responsive to trades and will accept, counter offer, or decline relatively quickly.  I also don’t mind texting or emailing about working out a trade, but I know one thing, I won’t go dark and leave another manager hanging.

1.  Why do you want to join High & Tight?

I'm interested in joining High & Tight because I’m looking for another challenge.  I would still consider myself a novice when it comes to fantasy baseball.  I’m continuously looking for ways to improve my craft.  The best way to do that is to compete in as many highly competitive leagues as possible.  I’ve heard that this league is just as competitive as or possibly more competitive than Fantasies Are Real (FAR), one I’m currently participating in.

2.  Please share any information as it relates to your qualifications. This may includes leagues you are in or have been in, championships, noteworthy acquisitions/strategies, offseason activities, etc. – related to baseball only.

Currently, I’m participating in 3 different leagues, FAR and two draft and hold leagues.  I have now taken over teams in two different leagues that were rebuilds and built them into perennial playoff teams.  I still haven’t broken through and won a championship in a non-draft and hold league.  However, my team in FAR has improved and gotten closer every year.  The other league I took a team over in disbanded, prior to that I improved every year in that league as well.  I’m certain that what I learn from participating in multiple leagues will lead to my ultimate goal of winning a championship.

3.  Describe your management style (active vs. passive, aggressive trader, analytical, specific methodologies, etc.)

I'm an active manager of all my fantasy teams.  I’m constantly looking for the best way to improve my teams.  Whether that is through trades or through the draft/auction all depends on availability and the price of players.   If I had to describe my trade philosophy, I would call myself an analytical trader.  I will identify my team needs, identify players that will fill those needs, check the availability/price of those players and then decide which one(s) to target.  Once I have decided on the target(s) the trade itself comes quickly.  In all trades I’m going to try and identify the other team’s needs prior to making an offer.  This tends to make trade discussions easier and move quicker.  I’m thankful for your consideration to join your league and I’m hopeful that I will have the opportunity to compete against all of you.  Thanks!
