- Perhaps The Angry Pirates stepped to the side prematurely? Week 6 saw his team produce the second most dominant week of the season for one group of categories with a 2.4 in hitting (47/15/55/3/.373) thanks in no small part to Adam Jones joining the productive O’s and the immortal JBJ. Meanwhile his pitching wasn’t half bad either thanks to a few guys he got back as throw ins in trades, namely RDLR, Bauer, and Chacin. He finished with a 8-1-1 defeat of the unlucky Loose Moose, whose very nice hitting week (36/11/28/3/.336) got him zero wins in return. You know, 11th is only three spots out of a playoff position. Just sayin…
- An important thing to keep in mind when looking at the latest real ranking is that first and last place this year is only separated by 2.75. That’s not much and we’re only 29% of the way through the season.
- As is typically the case, luck is starting to even out. The lowering of the +/- column over time shows most teams are getting back to around where they should be. Eventually the difference for most teams should be 3 at most.
- The VAR column shows you consistent your team is week to week. So, it looks like Jason and Dagan are the most likely to be scratching their heads on a week to week basis while Shomphe should be pretty happy scoring 4.8-7.2 every week, even if he’s still a bit buried in the standings.
- One way to figure out whether it’s time for a trade is to look at the difference in the “H” and “P” columns in the overall real rankings. The most imbalanced teams appear to be Thor’s Hammered (1st pitch, 9th hit), Cowhide (9th pitch, 1st hit), and Donkey (4th pitch, 14th hit). Meanwhile, One Nut (3rd pitch, 3rd hit), Napalm (2nd pitch, 5th hit), and Stroman (5th pitch, 4th hit) appear to have the most balance.
- Another big early season matchup this week as Dave’s upstart Cowhide Joyride tries to challenge the Revenge for the regular season lead. My Revenge continue to benefit from catching good teams on bad weeks, as my Real Ranking clearly shows the team is outperforming its actual production. No complaints here, but this week could be the first loss because Dave’s team is on a roll. Over the past three weeks, here’s your leaderboard:
